On May 5, Paolo Ardoino, the CEO of Tether, revealed plans for the company’s innovative open-source AI runtime solution. This announcement marks a significant step in Tether’s ambition to expand into the rapidly growing artificial intelligence sector.
Ardoino shared via Twitter that the upcoming AI solution will be fully decentralized, removing the need for API keys and eliminating a central point of failure. The open-source platform will be capable of adapting to any hardware or device, ensuring maximum flexibility and scalability.
In addition to this, Tether’s new AI runtime will integrate with its Wallet Development Kit (WDK) to enable seamless payments using USDT, Tether’s widely-used stablecoin, and Bitcoin (BTC).
In a follow-up post, Ardoino emphasized that the Tether AI project aims to lay the technological foundation for the AI future envisioned by science fiction author Isaac Asimov. He believes that AI technology will eventually become a core component of the universe, and Tether intends to be at the forefront with an open-source, transparent, and scalable platform.
This move comes after Tether’s previous AI-related ventures, including the launch of Tether Data. The company’s involvement in the Bitcoin ecosystem continues to deepen, with Tether not only accumulating BTC regularly but also expanding its reach into Bitcoin mining.
